his first morning (original characters)(short: 261 words)
They stood there under the glow of the sun that peeked through the cracks of the ceiling, its light incredibly warm yet Michael wasn’t afraid anymore. He brought out his hand to the top, a sensation almost like the twist of the skin accumulated, but his skin hadn’t blistered like he feared. That sticky feeling of summer and the beautiful light of a morning sun, all of it, merely centered deep within Michael’s heart, it felt like it was glowing too. Silas’ hand slowly and gently entangled with Michael’s, his hands were a soft reminder of his presence, and it felt like finally, the two were in a world of their own.
A choir of birds sung their morning song, and the breeze that could have threatened their peace merely whispered amongst their ears. Silas breathed in, and out, and in and out. Michael let it be a song within this space, another being a part of this world he had longed to witness again. He didn’t want it to be consumed by this darkness he believed he had within him, for so long, he had believed he was unworthy of the light, of the love the world is so willing to give.
Silas was closer now. His eyes finally closed and his head leaned on Michael’s shoulders. He dreamt of a life with Michael last night, one in which they share moments like this forever. Sun filled, and curtains that can’t block out the sun, in his heart, he wanted so desperately to grow old with him.
